Production Engineer

The railway production Engineer is the highest paid for a large company like BNSF.

Track Maintenance

The track maintainer’s Jobs is not so different from that of the Production Engineer.

He is tasked with the construction, inspection and on-site repair of the track and other railroad property. From time to time, he will be made to travel to other areas where their Job is needed.

As a track maintainer, it is expected that you comply with the rules and policies of a safe working environment and also apply safety concerns for other team members.

Your work involves tracking the railroad, pointing out changes and faults, and fixing damages using available power and non-power tools. Maintenance also involves lifting materials, cutting, removing litter, drilling holes, and clearing cargo spillage that may cause obstruction on the railroad.

Track maintenance personnel operates non-powered tools; shovels, picks, axes, cutters, sledgehammers; operate proper electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic hand tools such as drills, impact wrenches, jacks, power saws, grinders. To remove or replace ballast, cut rails, compress ballasts, lift, roll and adjust rails and carry essential track materials with assistance.

Qualifications

To work as a track maintainer in BNSF, you need:

  • to be at least 18 years and older
  • to be willing to move to the area of designation
  • communication skills for writing, reading and apt in understanding
  • Working outdoors should be less of a problem, especially in varying weather conditions.
  • The hourly input of track maintenance jobs in BNSF is up to 40hrs/week, and you may be subject to overtime, shifts, nights, alternate weekends, and holidays.

  • You should be able to lift 60lbs without struggle and should have no problem with traveling.

Other Requirements

Other requirements may include:

  •  Able to walk, bend, move, stand, sit, and use hand tools.
