El xèrif Wallace ha decidit venjar-se per una ofensa personal empaitant un camioner llegendari a qui anomenen l'Ànec de Goma. El que no espera és que la resta de conductors ha decidit donar suport al seu company i han format un comboi de camions d'una milla de llarg que no s'aturarà davant de res. Gradualment, s'hi afegeixen més i més vehicles al cada vegada més llarg comboi, retronant per les carreteres pel maltractament que reben de la policia i dels polítics, els quals provaran de detenir-los o bé de manipular-los electoralment.
